Meet the team
Founder & Creative Director | Camilla Salem
Camilla is a 25-year-old U.C. Berkeley graduate living in the San Francisco Bay Area. She loves gin gimlets, gardening, making homemade pizza, and reading Hello! Magazine. She launched The Violet in 2011.
Managing Editor | Ashlee Gadd
Ashlee Gadd is a writer/photographer based in Sacramento, CA. She’s a brand new momma to Everett Hudson, who keeps her smiling every day. When she’s not making lists and guzzling Go Girl Energy Drinks, you can find Ashlee at your local thrift store, yoga studio, or, most likely, frozen yogurt shop.
Content Editor | Jasmine L. H. Myers
Jasmine lives in California with her super-hot, hair stylist husband, Levi, and their kitties, Gretel and Lily and is expecting a baby girl at the end of October. True to her Gemini nature, she values independence and likes to dabble in anything that strikes her fancy. She appreciates good food, good coffee, and good people.
Contributing Editor | Jackie Pfeffer
Jackie is a professional photographer and avid traveler who calls New York her home base. When she's not obscured by a camera, she's hiking, writing, or providing dialogue for her dogs, Rocco and Susie.
Contributing Editor | Emily Rack
A curly-haired, library-loving girl split between Ottawa (journalism school) and London (home). An apple lover, dinner party enthusiast, and bedroom ballerina, Emily enjoys picnics, baking, 80s post-punk, and reading Hemingway. She loves boys with glasses, John Hughes movies, and listening to other people’s stories. Idols include Anne Shirley and Tina Fey.
Contributing Editor | Molly Yeh
Molly is a Brooklyn-based food writer, classical percussionist, and mustard collector. Originally from the suburbs of Chicago, she moved to New York to attend the Juilliard School. Her favorite things to do include riding her bike, eating, making dumplings, tap dancing, and changing the subject.
Contributing Editor | Celeste Noche
Celeste is a Bay Area native whose life dream is to travel the world. A recent Stanford graduate in English and Classics, she loves her ukulele, film photography, stargazing, and Mr. Darcy. She splits her daydreaming equally between food, Europe, and what to be when she grows up.
